It's no secret that Italians love their wine. It's also no secret that Italy produces some of the finest wines in the world.

'Strada Valley' in Italy's Veneto region, is an absolute must for anyone who's interested in or appreciates good wine. In terms of both quality and quantity, Veneto is widely recognized as one of the finest wine-producing areas in the world. The region has over 20 DOCs and produces some excellent dry and Spumanti wines.

The three most well known wines from the region are: Bardolino, Valpolicella and Soave. Then there's the sumptuous sparkling Prosecco, the Breganze, and the Amarone (a rich and powerful red from the Verona). If you're in Treviso, look out for a less well-known wine called 'Clinton'. It's only produced in small quantities for local consumption but it's absolutely superb.

In 1885 the first Italian school for vine growing and oenology was set up in this region. Veneto was also the first region to set up a wine-touring road (Strada Valley) with special signs providing information about the vines themselves and the type of wines they produced.

The most well-known and appreciated wines in this region come from the provinces of Treviso, Verona, Padova, Venice, and Vicenza.
